This custom home in Northbrook has numerous features like 10′ ceiling heights, 8′ walnut doors, extensive millwork, a home automation system, carved limestone for the exterior details, carved marble and limestone in the interior, expanded foam insulation, several groin vaults, heated floors, intricate tile work, a walnut staircase winding from the basement to the second floor with an elaborate iron railing, a home theater, a home audio, phone, and TV distribution system, copper gutters and down spouts, and so much more. Benchmark Homes was brought on to this job when the commercial contractor building the house was struggling to get his crews to move beyond the rough stages.
This proved to be fortunate for the homeowner as substantial amounts of the framing had to be taken apart and rebuilt or new solutions created so as to not deconstruct too much of the house. The HVAC system was completely removed, redesigned, rezoned, and reinstalled. An extensive air exchange and heat recovery system was designed and installed to work in conjunction with the home automation system and the foam insulation. The plumbing system was virtually completely removed and redesigned. An entire chimney was taken apart and rebuilt. Numerous other changes were made, designed, and coordinated to make this house the spectacular house that it is today. Fortunately the homeowner will never know how this house might have turned out.
